FR chef coat orders, in short
Sharknits makes FR (flame-resistant) chef coats and aprons to order in aramid fabric, for kitchens with open flames and for hotels and caterers with live cooking. The buyer's logo and each chef's name are embroidered. The minimum is 50 pieces per style and color, with sizes mixed. Each order comes with the yarn maker's certificate and a copy of our CE certificate for flame-resistant fabrics (CE is the European product mark). Before we ship, we test a swatch of your fabric with a flame and send you the video. First we make one physical sample, and we confirm its price with your quote. After you approve it, bulk takes about 6 to 8 weeks, plus shipping. We quote FOB (free on board) Karachi or DDP (delivered duty paid) to your door. You pay in full when the order is ready to ship.

Kitchens that ask for FR
No US rule we found requires FR chef coats. Some kitchens with open flames choose them, after their own hazard assessment.
- Grill and wood-fired ovens: coats and aprons for the cooks who work the grill and the oven.
- Tandoor and wok stations: one coat for every cook on the line.
- Hotels and caterers: coats for chefs at live cooking stations.
- Your choice: your kitchen decides who wears FR, from its own hazard assessment.
Aprons, and coats with long or short sleeves
Aprons come in the same aramid fabric. Coats come with long or short sleeves.

What comes with your order
What we send with each order, and plain words on certification.
- The yarn certificate: we buy the aramid yarn ourselves. Each order comes with the yarn maker's certificate for that yarn.
- The CE certificate: our fabric facility holds a CE certificate for making finished flame-resistant fabrics. We send you a copy with your quote.
- A test video: before we ship, we test a swatch of your fabric with a flame. We send you the video.
- What they show: the certificates cover the yarn and the fabric. They are not a garment certification.
- Certified garments: garment certification is done by an independent certification body. Tell us the standard your program uses.
- Your quote: we confirm whether it can be done for your order, what it costs and how long it adds.
- The label: a garment carries a certification label only after that body lists it.
- Your safety team: employers choose FR clothing from their own hazard assessment, and pick the standard for each garment.

Questions buyers ask
Do chefs need FR chef coats?
No US rule we found requires them. Some kitchens with open flames choose them, after their own hazard assessment. Your kitchen decides who wears them.
Is "fire resistant" the same as flame-resistant?
Buyers often use the two for the same idea. Flame-resistant is the term US rules and standards use. It describes a fabric that resists catching fire and stops burning once the flame is gone. Our guide to inherent and treated FR clothing explains the words.
What is the minimum for FR chef coats?
50 pieces per style and color. You can mix sizes within that number. Aprons start at 50 too.
Can you embroider each chef's name?
Yes. Send one list with each name and size. We confirm the cost of names with your quote.
Do you make women's cuts?
Tell us the cuts and sizes you need. We confirm women's cuts and the size range with your quote.
How do we wash them?
We confirm the care instructions with your quote, from the fabric maker. Our guide to inherent and treated FR clothing covers washing FR clothing in general.
Can you make certified chef coats?
Garment certification, for example to NFPA (National Fire Protection Association) 2112, is done by an independent certification body. Tell us the standard your program uses. We confirm with your quote whether it can be done, what it costs and how long it adds.
How long does an order take?
We make one physical sample first and confirm its price with your quote. After you approve it, bulk takes about 6 to 8 weeks, plus shipping. By air, shipping takes about 1 to 2 weeks.
Do you make chef coats without FR?
Yes. Our aprons page covers chef coats and aprons in canvas, denim, cotton drill and other regular fabrics, from 25 pieces.
