We make competition and recital costumes for studios and teams, from your sketch to one physical sample, then your order. Costumes can have sequins, mesh, fringe and stones, on a leotard or unitard base. Each dancer in a group gets the same design in their own size.

Dance costume orders, in short
Sharknits makes competition and recital costumes for studios and teams, from the buyer's sketch to one physical sample, then the order. Costumes are built on a leotard or unitard base, with sequins, mesh, fringe and stones. Each costume is made to the size ordered, and custom costumes are not returned. The minimum is 25 pieces per design in adult sizes and 50 in kids sizes, with sizes mixed. First we make one physical sample, for $150 to $500 depending on the design, plus shipping. After you approve it, bulk takes about 4 to 6 weeks, plus shipping. By air, shipping takes about 1 to 2 weeks. Adult sizes are quoted FOB (free on board) Karachi or DDP (delivered duty paid) to the buyer's door. Kids sizes are quoted FOB Karachi only, so the buyer imports them. You pay in full when the order is ready to ship.

Fringe, and costumes in small sizes
Fringe hangs in rows at the hips. Small sizes start at 50 per design, under the US kids rules.
Sizing a whole class or team
Each costume is made to the size you order. Custom costumes are not returned, so check the sizes before you order.
- One size chart: send your chart, and we grade the pattern to it.
- Measure each dancer: match each one to a size on the chart, and send us one list.
- Sizes mixed: within each design, from the smallest dancer to the tallest.
- Kids sizes: 50 per design, quoted FOB Karachi.
Kids sizes and the US rules
As of October 2026. This is general information, not legal advice. Confirm the details with your testing lab.
- Minimum: 50 pieces per design in kids sizes, with sizes mixed, quoted FOB Karachi. You import them.
- Children's products: in the US, dancewear sized for kids 12 and under is a children's product.
- Lab tests: a lab that the CPSC (Consumer Product Safety Commission) accepts tests your samples for lead in the stones, sequins, prints and metal trims. Plain dyed fabric needs no lead test. Some fabrics need a flammability test.
- The certificate: the US importer issues the Children's Product Certificate. Since July 8, 2026, the importer also files its data with US Customs when the goods arrive.
- Tracking labels: each piece carries a permanent label that says who made it, where, when and in which batch.
- What we do: we send samples to the lab you pick and sew your tracking labels.

We make one physical sample for $150 to $500, depending on the design. You can make changes during sampling. After you approve the sample, bulk takes about 4 to 6 weeks, plus shipping.
Changes go into another sample round before bulk starts.

What is the minimum for costumes?
25 pieces per design in adult sizes and 50 in kids sizes. You can mix sizes within that number.
Can you add stones to our design?
Yes. Stones in a logo, along the seams or scattered over mesh, in clear or colored stones. You see them on your sample before bulk.
Can we add our own stones later?
Yes. Tell us where you plan to add them, and we can leave those areas plain.
How long do costumes take?
After you approve the sample, bulk takes about 4 to 6 weeks, plus shipping. By air, shipping takes about 1 to 2 weeks. For recitals in May and June, plan to have costumes in hand by the end of March, so start the sample by mid January.
Do you make kids sizes?
Yes, from 50 pieces per design, quoted FOB Karachi. Dancewear sized for kids 12 and under is a children's product in the US. Your lab tests the stones, sequins and prints for lead before you import it.
How do we size a whole class?

Can you make one costume for a soloist?
No. Our minimum is 25 pieces per design, so we make costumes for groups, not for one dancer.
