Hockey jersey sizing: player cut, goalie cut and socks
Hockey jerseys are cut big, to go over shoulder and elbow pads, so size every player with the pads on. Goalies wear a goalie cut, much wider in the body and sleeves, and sock length follows the shin guard.

How to measure a player
- Put the pads on. Measure the player's chest over the shoulder pads.
- Or use a jersey that fits. Lay it flat and measure from armpit to armpit. That is the half chest.
- Measure the length. Measure the jersey's body length, from top to hem.
- Write it down. One list with each player's name, number and size.
What other makers' charts show
These ranges come from other makers' published charts. They are a guide only, not our sizes.
- Senior player jerseys: a half chest of about 22.5 to 31 inches.
- Senior goalie cuts: a half chest of about 30.5 to 33.5 inches.
- Our sizes: graded to your size chart and checked on your sample. We confirm the range with your quote.
Goalie cut vs player cut
A goalie cut is much wider in the body and sleeves than a player's jersey.
- Sizes: a goalie who wears a large often needs a much bigger goalie cut.
- The same design: the same colors, crest and numbers as the team's jerseys.
- Two per goalie: one guide advises two jerseys for each goalie.
Youth, junior, intermediate and senior
Makers name their size groups in different ways.
- Youth or junior: some makers say youth and others junior, for the same young players.
- Intermediate: some makers use it only for goalie cuts and socks.
- Senior: adult sizes.
- Your order: send each player's measurements, not only a size name.

Sock length follows the shin guard
Hockey socks are sized by length, so they cover the shin guard.
- Youth to senior: published lengths run from about 18 inches to 32 inches.
- Measure: the length of the shin guard, then find the sock length in a chart.
- Our lengths: we confirm them with your quote.

Pant shells by waist
A pant shell goes over the hockey pants, so size it by the waist.
- Waist: send each player's waist size.
- Our sizes: we confirm the range with your quote.
Sizing a whole team
Size the whole team at one fitting, with the pads on.
- A fitting: size each player at one fitting, with the pads on.
- One list: each player's name, number and size, in one list.
- Spares: two or three spares per color, for new players.
- Goalies: two jerseys for each goalie.
- Our sizes: graded to your size chart, confirmed with your quote and checked on your sample.
What we do not make for hockey
We do not make helmets, cages or visors, neck guards, gloves, shoulder or elbow pads, hockey pants or girdles, shin guards, skates, sticks or goalie pads. We make the shells that go over hockey pants and girdles. We do not make cut-resistant socks or sleeves.
Where these sizes come from
